obsessing

So for whatever reason, I agreed to come into work today... there is only one other person in the office, the plant is shut down, and it doesn't really even feel like a work day. We've only had two phone calls so far this morning - both from the guy who runs our facility in Wendell, Idaho. Thus, instead of doing something productive, I'm perusing blogs and online retailers and fashion websites, cuz I'm kind of obsessive like that.

Right now, I'm mostly researching New Year's Eve outfit potentials. I'm probably not actually doing anything interesting for New Year's, but hey - a girl can dream, right? Who knows - maybe I'll get brave and take myself out. I just wish my lil sis was old enough to go with me!

My shopping addiction has definitely kicked into full swing over the last couple of months. I've been blowing an awful lot of money on clothes and make up when I really should be saving for a car, but honestly I'm not really sure that I *want* a car. In my current frame of reality, I'm not sure that having access to a vehicle that can go more than a few miles down the road is such a bright idea. I'd love to be able to escape up the canyon or to SLC any time I want, but at the same time, there are moments when I'm not really sure that I'd be able to stop myself there. I'm having some serious wanderlustings of late, and the Gods only know where I'd end up if I had the transportation to get me there.

My newest favorite obsessions are legwarmers and expensive make up. As I've gotten older, my tastes have definitely changed and I've gotten MUCH better at applying make up, and I've noticed that there is absolutely a marked difference between cheap, drug store brand make up and the high quality stuff you can only get in beauty stores (like Sephora). There are definitely some decent drug store brands out there (I love Maybelline Fit foundation), but it just doesn't compare to professional grade stuff like Make Up Forever HD (my new fave designer stuff). Once I finish off my current bottle of Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, I'm thinking I'm going to invest in the Make Up Forever HD line - primer ($32), concealer ($28), foundation ($40), microfinish powder ($30) and all. I tried it out in the store the other day and fell head over heels in love. It's pretty pricey, but they sell a starter kit for $79 that comes with a full size foundation and slightly smaller jars of the microfinish powder and primer, as well as the kabuki brush for applying the powder (it's $39 on it's own). It's definitely a good deal, and it'll help me gain a little perspective on whether or not it's something I should really use every day and how my skin reacts to it on a long term basis before I go all out and blow a bajillion dollars on make up. I *really* want to get it with my next paycheck, but the tiny voice of reason inside my head is trying to convince me that it might be a better idea to wait until after the new year. We'll see who wins.
