...is starting again

Today was rainy and dreary, so instead of the hoped-for job-interview-outfit post, I'm posting some photos that have been floating around my hard drive awaiting just such an opportunity.

So I've made some decisions regarding my life and my direction. I've yet to set any specifics, because so much of what happens over the next few months depends on how quickly I get a job. The lack of a concrete, steady income makes it difficult to hammer out a concrete, specific plan. Frustrating, because I very much feel motivated to get these things done now, but I have to be patient. Unfortunately, as an Aries, patience has never been one of my strongest qualities...

I've settled on Marketing & Public Relations as my major and, hopefully, my career. The bonus to this is that I've already got most of a communications major done, so if I get back to school this summer, and I really buckle down and get things done, I may be graduating this time next year. That may be overly optimistic, but with a great deal of hard work on my part, I think it's reasonable.

Once I have a job, I'm going to set some specific, time sensitive financial goals that include me obtaining a car by the end of the summer at the latest, and saving up some money in case of an emergency. I'll set a reasonable monthly budget for myself and actually start paying attention to how much money I spend.

I'm going to write, every day. It's cheap therapy for me, and pen and paper don't pry into your childhood. Some things are better left buried, thanks. So I'll write it out, let it go and move on with my life. There are few things in my world that pen and paper (and chocolate ice cream) can't fix.

In addition to writing, I'm going to maintain my blog regularly. Fashion and writing are two of my most dear passions and favorite hobbies, and luckily they are ones that are easily combined. If it leads somewhere, fantastic. If not, I'm okay with that too. Too much pressure tends to cause things to explode in my face, so for now I'll post, and try not to take myself too seriously.

I'm also going to take up my intellectual and spiritual studies again. I'm not an overly religious person by any means, but right now I crave stimulation and growth and balance in my life, and I feel like these are two areas that have been sadly neglected over the last few years. I hesitate to even use the word "religion" to describe my beliefs. The word has so many connotations and implications these days that it seems to have lost the reverence it once inspired. I claim no specific tradition or denomination... My beliefs are personal, and I feel that the purest form of spirituality is knowing your Self.

So, specifics regarding school and financial plans will have to wait until I have a steady job. In the meantime, though, I have plenty of time to get started on the other areas I mentioned. I could add a few more, but I think this is a good start. Maybe in a few months I can add on to my plan; for now, I'll focus on these areas.

My ear hurts; I'm going to bed now I think. Thoughts and advice are always appreciated :)
