black, purple and freezing

Aren't you just so proud of me? I have outfit photos for you, finally!

They're not the best quality (taken with my phone because my camera is dead), costarring my beater truck and my messy house certainly isn't the most glamourous setting... but it was damn cold last night and there wasn't enough light left to waste any time looking for something better. My hair is kind of a hot mess too - I am in desperate need of a cut and color. I have an appointment set for next week. Trying out a new stylist that I've heard is pretty damned incredible; I plan to do something pretty dramatic (details are top secret!), so I definitely need someone with talented scissors. Appointment is set for 5pm on the 17th; photos will most definitely follow!

Here I demonstrate that I can, in fact, stand on one foot on a bumper while wearing four inch wedges (I can also drive my beater truck and make the three mile trek home from work in a snowstorm in them, but those are both different stories). The bumper isn't too securely attached, so I was a little terrified that I might go flying at any moment. I survived, however - further proof that I can pretty much do anything I want while wearing sky high wedges.

This skirt, in case you can't tell, is a deep purple, and my absolute favorite - which is kinda funny, because when I tried it on, I didn't think I would like it. When I go shopping and I'm having a hard time finding something I love, I choose something I wouldn't normally wear and give it a go. More often than not, I'm pleasantly surprised, like I was here. I put the skirt on and completely fell in love. I wear it all the time, and I've found it's very versatile. Here I've paired it with my (new) black Express button down - another item that I was pleasantly surprised by. I've been searching desperately for a button down I can stand to wear. I've had a really hard time finding one that fits just right and that's comfortable, but I love the way they look when done right. I found these button downs at Express that have a bit of spandex in them, and they're super stretchy without ever feeling tight or stiff or uncomfortable in any way. I usually wear a medium in tops, but I wear a small at Express and the small fit me perfectly here. I picked one up in white as well, and my favorite part of both? The sleeves can be worn rolled (as seen here) or to the wrist, and the cuff has a shiny silver link. LOVE! They were on sale when I got mine, and I got a killer deal, but I love them so much I would have paid full price. If you work in a professional environment (I don't, but I like to pretend!), I definitely recommend picking up one in every color available!
